
Charles Francis Mahony of Atlanta passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Grace Mahony; his children, Patricia, Kevin and Maureen; his grandchild, Olivia Mahony; his sister Ann Zavorski; nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Cecelia Mahony of Philadelphia; his brother, Frank; and his sister, Mary Anne. Charles Mahony was a true renaissance man. A gifted artist, writer and athlete, he was often called upon for his breadth of knowledge and advice. He loved people and was always ready to crack a joke and a smile. A devout Catholic, Mr. Mahony grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended LaSalle University, lettered in track and received a degree in Marketing. He excelled in his chosen career of advertising and sales and owned his own business for 15 years prior to retirement. Charles Mahony served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was stationed at I.G. Farbenstrasse where he was attached to the Civil Affairs Division Headquarters European Command.
He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was a member of VFW Post 10822 and American Legion Post 140. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 26, at 1 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, Georgia. The family will receive friends following the service at McGivney Hall on the church property. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Conference of All Saints Catholic Church.
