

Diane Ison Coursey passed away September 5, 2010 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A native Atlantan, She was born on May 1, 1939 to the late Roswell Davis Ison, Jr. and Virginia Greene Ison. A very good business woman, she worked for over 20 years in the insurance industry. She touched the lives of many through her community involvement including service as a hospital volunteer, Girl Scout Leader, and quilter and fundraiser for head injury patients as well as a long time member of the Dunwoody Club and the St. James United Methodist Church. Diane always put her family first and was very supportive of her husband, children and grandchildren, in all their endeavors. She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Judge Daniel M. Coursey, Jr., daughter, Dr. Deborah Diane Joiner and husband, Kendall Lemieux, sons, Russ M. Joiner and wife, Gina, Daniel M. Coursey, III, grandsons, Dillon and Nicholas Joiner, brother, Roswell Davis Ison, III and wife, Lisa, three sisters, Barbara Thome and husband, Joe, Vicki Akin and husband, Randy and Janice Haralson, and brother-in-law, Jeffrey R. Coursey and wife, Martha, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving is a golden retriever Max who she raised for her grandsons. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, September 8 at 11am at St. James United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathan Holston and Reverend Dianne McCann officiating, followed by a reception in the church parlor.
