Edward K Mark

Edward Kenneth Mark was born on February 19, 1926 in Erie, PA. Son of Ellen Enstrom and Ralph Mark, he grew up in Erie until joining the Navy in 1944 where he served for 2 years. Following his active duty (he continued to serve as a reservist), he attended Hobart & William Smith College, graduating with a B.A. in Business.

From there, Edward moved to Washington DC where he met and married Lois Anderson. He worked for many years at Bell and Howell and was consistently their top salesman earning a spot in their President’s Club every year. However, it was his extracurricular activities that really defined him.

He acted in local theatre companies; Arlington Players, Montgomery Players and Vienna Summer Playhouse, for many years. Edward was in such notable plays and musicals as; Rashomon, Any Wednesday, How to Succeed in Business, Visit to a Small Planet and Critic’s Choice. His passion for stage and screen continued even after he stopped acting.

He swam competitively for many years with the Arlington Masters team. His love of foreign travel led him to take language courses in French and German. As a master craftsman, Edward insisted on doing most home improvement projects himself. He had a passion for cooking and dining out and a knack for finding the best restaurants in any city he visited. He was also an avid reader and Bridge player.

Edward moved to Atlanta, GA in 2023 and passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2025.He is survived by his daughter, Valerie, of Atlanta. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Erie Maritime Museum or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
