Evelyn Anna Euart, (nee Buteau) 89, of Atlanta, died peacefully on June 14, 2011 after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Euart was born in Pawtucket, RI on April 22, 1922 the fourth child of Cora and Paul Buteau. She attended elementary and secondary schools in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. After high school, at the beginning of World War II, she worked for the American Red Cross and in other war-time services. She married the love of her life, the late John F. Euart, on May 1, 1943. While Mr. Euart was on active duty in the Army Air Corps, they traveled together to his many assignments throughout the states. Their four children were born while on active duty or shortly afterward. After settling in Atlanta in 1956, the family became members of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church where Mrs. Euart was an active member for more than 50 years. During that time she taught first grade at Our Lady of the Assumption School for ten years. In 1973 she suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed on her right side. After months of physical therapy and determination she continued to live a full life, volunteering in the Gift Shop of St. Joseph’s Hospital, assisting with Meals on Wheels. She and her beloved husband were active members of the Atlanta Stroke Club for many years. An avid story-teller to her first graders and her beloved grandchildren, Mrs. Euart took much pleasure in watching her grandchildren’s sports activities, traveling to visit family and friends, and vacationing in Maine. She was an outgoing, fun-loving, happy person who enjoyed people immensely and whose love of life touched those who knew her. In recent years, Mrs. Euart was confined to her home with devoted care-givers. Mrs. Euart was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, who passed away September 4, 2009, her parents, and her sisters Dorothy, Mildred and Gladys.
