Francis Eugene “Frank” Hagan, 78, died on February 10, 2018. Born May 14, 1939 in Owensboro, KY, Frank was the youngest of ten children born to George Sylvester Hagan and Ruth Wathen. After graduating from Owensboro Catholic High School, Frank served for three years as an accounting specialist in the Finance Corps of the United States Army, and was based for part of this time in Seoul, Korea. In the 1970s, Frank moved from Kentucky to Atlanta, Georgia, where he applied his accounting skills for over three decades as an employee of the Federal Small Business Administration. Frank is survived by seven children; among his greatest joys was rooting for and reveling in their accomplishments. (Among their great joys: brushing Daddy’s hair, laughing with him, “driving him crazy,” and sharing his favorite baked sweets). Frank loved working outside in his yard, where he cultivated a small rose garden. Like the eponymous Saint of Assisi, Frank had an affinity for animals, and raised chihuahuas later in life, jokingly calling himself “the dog man of Doraville.” Some of the qualities friends recognized in Frank were hard work, a refusal to quit, and a wily sense of humor. Frank was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tucker, GA. A rosary and funeral mass will be held in the church’s sanctuary on Thursday, February 15 at 10:00am and 11:00am, with a reception to follow at noon. Internment at Arlington Memorial Cemetery will take place at 3:00pm. Frank was predeceased by his son, John Michael, who died as an infant. Frank’s wish was that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of John Michael Hagan to Henrietta Egleston Children’s Hospital.
