
Gladys Adair Bridges Lawson, 98, of Atlanta, died peacefully in her residence on September 21, 2010. Mrs. Lawson was born on February 13, 1912 in Sharpsburg, GA to Lena Ingram Bridges and Roy Roscoe Bridges, Sr. She received a Bachelors’ degree in Science from Oglethorpe University, where she also played basketball. Mrs. Lawson was a member of the Cherokee Chapter of the Daughter of the American Revolution and taught third grade at Newnan School for seventeen years and touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph H. Lawson, Jr., and grandson, Joseph H. Lawson, III. She is survived by her daughters: Rena Elizabeth Lawson Everett of Atlanta and Ann Adair Lawson (Jon) Armstrong of Lookout Mountain, TN; grandchildren: RenaAnn Bridges Peck (Eric) Peck, Rhonda Adair Peck O’Gorman, Travis Ingram (Katheryn) Peck, Tiffany Lingan Peck, all of Atlanta, Brittain Ingram (Eleanor) Lawson of Newnan, Jonathan Jesse Armstrong, III of Chattanooga, TN and Lawson West Armstrong of Denver, CO; great grandchildren: Roxie Elizabeth Stricker, Lawson Bridges Stricker, Everett Attridge O’Gorman, Elizabeth Adair O’Gorman and Eleanor Cheney Lawson. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Michelle Williams and the staff of the Cathedral Towers for their loving care throughout the years.
Inurnment will be at Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Georgia on Friday, the twenty-fifth of September at eleven o’clock in the morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2774 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Arrangements under the direction of H.M.
