At the time she and Doug, her husband, met while she was employed by the Nestle Company and as Doug took her around the country she found employment at White Cross Stores in Pennsylvania and finally Johnson Service Company in Boston. Once Doug completed Harvard Business School, she pointed out it was now his turn to make money and her turn to spend it. It has been that way ever since. Doug then took her to Calhoun, GA, Rocky Mount, NC, back to Atlanta, then to Cleveland, OH and finally back to Atlanta.
Their first house was in Marietta and shortly thereafter, their daughter, Blair was born. Gwen was a good sport as Doug moved her around the Country. Cleveland was the crowning blow when three feet of snow was found against the garage door in mid April. That prompted a final move back to Atlanta for good. Each of these moves required Gwen to not only look after her daughter, Blair, but to fix up each new house and in two cases to build a new house, the last in Historic Brookhaven.
After they settled in Atlanta, Gwen took up tennis, golf and bridge, in addition of raising a daughter. She was on an Alta tennis team that won the City championship one year and as a golfer has had 6 holes in one. She pointed out that Doug on the other hand had has none.
Gwen is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Doug her daughter Blair Lisowski, Son-in Law, Chuck Lisowski and two grandchildren, Ryan and Greg Lisowski.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lenbrook at 11am on Saturday, January 31st.The family suggests donations to Gwen’s favorite charity, the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
