

Henry L. Waszkowski III, a distinguished naval officer, accomplished banker, entrepreneur, and devoted family patriarch, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026. Born on September 9, 1945 in New Orleans, LA, Henry lived a life defined by service, intellectual curiosity, professional excellence, and a profound love for his family.
Henry was a proud alum of Princeton University and MIT. He served his country as an officer in the United States Navy, bringing the same discipline, integrity, and leadership that would characterize his entire career.
Henry enjoyed a long and successful career in banking with Wachovia, known for his sharp mind and calm demeanor, he was respected by colleagues and admired for his commitment to doing things right. Following his tenure at Wachovia, Henry founded and led his own business, Treasury Performance Consulting.
Henry’s hobbies reflected his curiosity and active lifestyle including photography, cooking, wine club, windsurfing, and cycling.
Henry was predeceased by his first wife, Maggie, with whom he shared 37 years and memories. He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Patty Thomas, together they enjoyed traveling the world, and hosting family gatherings in Cashiers, Atlanta, and Longboat Key.
He is also survived by his children, Anna Meenan (Mike), Peter Waszkowski (Casey), Stephanie Stephens (Austin) and Emily Kendrick (Hugh); grandchildren Jack, Maisy, Ryan, Molly, Emma, Katherine, Thomas, Sam and Jake; great grandchildren Ben, Timber and Teddy, and his sister, Carol Waszkowski. He loved family gatherings, sharing stories, and the simple joys of watching his loved ones grow and thrive.
On Friday, Feb 27th, at 2:45pm all friends, colleagues, family, and those whose lives Henry touched are invited to celebrate his life at Cherokee Town Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers, North Carolina, in Henry’s honor.
