

Houston Eugene Hatler passed away on February 6, 2014 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, GA. Mr. Hatler was born on August 5, 1929 in Gatliff, Kentucky, the youngest of five children to Reverend H. G. M. Hatler and Grace Ailene Parris Hatler. His four siblings, Harry Gant Moore Hatler, Grace Lenore Hatler Roberts, Verna Christine Hatler, and Dorothy Enid Hatler Rowland, all predeceased him. Mr. Hatler graduated from high school in Princeton, Kentucky and, after serving in the United States Air Force, graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1960. He also attended the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Hatler was the much loved regional sales manager for the textbook division of the Rand McNally and McGraw Hill companies, spending his last decade with the firm at the company’s offices in the Atlanta area. He was a good man, much beloved by all. Mr. Hatler is survived by his wife Virginia Slayden Hatler, his daughter Patricia Ruth Hatler and son-in-law Howard A. Coffin, his nephew Thomas Craig Roberts, his nieces Mona Hatler and Dorothy Elizabeth Christine Rowland Phillips, his grandchildren Laurie Hatler McConn Coffin and Sloan Hatler Danforth Coffin, and many loving friends.Funeral services will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton, Kentucky on Monday, February 10 at 11:00 AM.
