

James Calhoun McDougall Jr., a native Atlantan, passed away October 18, 2014. Born on July 17, 1927, he was graduated from E. Rivers School, Marist College Military Academy, and the University of Georgia. Mr. McDougall was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. During his business career, he was employed at the Fulton National Bank (now Bank of America) for 38 years. He was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of St. Philip, the Piedmont Driving Club, the Chi Phi Fraternity, the North Fulton Optimist Club, American Legion Post 134, and the Military Order of World Wars. He was particularly proud to have been a charter member of the Piedmont Literary Society.
While at Marist, Mr. McDougall was President of TKO Fraternity, and a star baseball pitcher. He later pitched for the Chattahoochee Industrial League for two years, where he won 20 games and lost 4. He was also an avid hunter and a global traveler.
Surviving Mr. McDougall are his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Lee Higgins, and his children Mary Lee McCrary and her husband Charles, and James Calhoun McDougall III and his wife Lisa, along with eight grandchildren: Mary Hahn and her husband Troy, Robert Wilmot and his wife Allie, Charles McCrary IV, Joseph McCrary, John McCrary, Christina McDougall, Hunter McDougall, Anna McDougall, and one great-grandchild, Lillie Wilmot. In addition, he is survived by his niece, Sally Crumley Lanigan, and her husband John. We also acknowledge thanks to his caregivers in his later years, Rodriga Curtis and Bertha Brown, for their outstanding care and dedication.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at St. Philips Cathedral, with the Very Reverend Sam Candler officiating.
