Jan Howell

She is survived by her loving children, Cindy Howell (Chris Nedza) and Stacey Godwin (Ted Godwin); nine cherished grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Jan was born in Alma, Georgia, and graduated from Bacon County High School before attending Berry College, where she also met and fell in love with her husband of over 60 years, Henry. She dedicated over 35 years of her career as a legal secretary at Powell, Goldstein, Frazer, and Murphy, where she was admired for her professionalism and work ethic.

A devoted member of Mountain Park First Baptist Church, Jan lived a life grounded in faith, kindness, and service to others. She was an avid sports fan who rarely missed an Atlanta Braves game, a Georgia football Saturday, or a good college basketball matchup. She found joy in cooking for loved ones, traveling in the RV, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her.

Jan's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at Park Springs, where she enjoyed living for the last five years.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation and a hot brunch on Saturday, July 26th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. A celebration of Jan’s life will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Kingston City Cemetery in Kingston, GA.
