Janeen was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Logan, and son, Cody, who were the center of her world. Her strength, grace, and unwavering love for her children were evident to all who knew her. One of her favorite places in the world was by the ocean with Logan and Cody—where she found her peace.
Janeen was born and raised in Rochester, NY. She graduated from Greece Athena High School and St. Bonaventure University. She excelled in soccer and track in high school and was honored as an All-Greater Rochester player and was named Greece Athena Female Athlete of the Year, a reflection of her drive and dedication in everything she pursued. She went on to earn a full soccer scholarship to St. Bonaventure. Her passion for her alma mater inspired her to create the St. Bonaventure Bonnie Alum Basketball Followers Facebook page in 2018 after seeing the need for her alumni “tribe” to connect while following the Bonnie’s during their NCAA post-season run. What began with a small group of close friends grew into a vibrant community of over 5,200 members including alumni, faculty, staff and major media outlets. She nurtured lifelong friendships and remained a proud and active member of the Bonnie family.
After graduating, she moved to Charlotte, NC and eventually made her home in Atlanta, GA, where she continued playing soccer and built lasting friendships through the game she loved. Her friends in Atlanta became her chosen family—-who supported her every step of the way and surrounded her with love throughout her illness.
Professionally, Janeen was a dedicated team member at Ernst & Young, continuing her career with strength and determination despite the challenges with her health.
Janeen’s love for sports was constant and passionate. Along with the Bonnie’s, she followed Atlanta United, the Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, Buffalo Sabres and most of all, her beloved Buffalo Bills! She and her dad faithfully texted and chatted during these games, commenting on every score, every move and every player! She was also a committed “tailgater” where her free spirited dance moves created lively pre-game celebrations.
To the surprise of her mom and her adoring sister, Janeen also became quite the foodie! During her final months, she found comfort in the kitchen, exploring ethnic flavors beyond our traditional family Italian favorites. She especially enjoyed cooking by instinct rather than by recipe, bringing creativity and warmth to every dish. Her back yard was her “oasis” where she lovingly cared for her vegetable and herb gardens.
Janeen is survived by her daughter Logan; her son Cody; her loving parents, Jack and Beverly Bartlett; her sister Tricia Martineck (Sean); her nieces, Abby and Grace; her best friend and “clone” Jill Reckamp; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
Janeen’s fierce loyalty, strength, and generous heart will be remembered always. She faced life—-and her illness with unshakable courage and a spirit that lifted those around her. Her legacy lives in the memories she created, the friendships she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
A memorial Mass will be held in Rochester on Wednesday, July 23rd at 9:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church.
To celebrate Janeen's life, a gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 4:00–5:00 PM, followed by a prayer service and sharing of memories from 5:00–6:00 PM and a reception from 6:00–8:00 PM. All events will take place at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30319.

There are not enough words to express our deepest appreciation for the love and support from our Rochester families and our Atlanta families, these past 2 years. Your frequent acts of kindness, too numerous to mention, will remain in our hearts forever, as a gift of your love for Janeen.
