

Brannon, Jean Mouchet, passed away on June 29, 2017, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's disease. Jean was born on January 31, 1930, in Atlanta, GA, to Ruby and Jess Mouchet of Atlanta and Griffin, GA. Jean graduated from Washington Seminary and attended Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon, GA, as a voice major. Shortly after completing college, she met and married Travis Brannon, Jr. They were married for 65 years. She is survived by her son, Travis Brannon, III, of Marietta, Ga.; her brother Phil Mouchet (Annette) of Griffin, GA; a sister Judy Martin of Gainesville, GA; and her sister Carole Eubanks (George) of Alpharetta, GA. She is also survived by two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Travis Brannon, Jr., and by her daughter, Carole Blocker, of St. Simon's Island, GA.
Jean's family was always number one in her life, but her next love was her music. She began voice lessons in her early teens and sang for over 35 years in her church choir as one of the soprano soloists. She studied voice on and off for years with Eunice Currie. Through those years she sang for many weddings and funerals in and around Atlanta. She was also a member of the Atlanta Chamber Opera Society under the direction of Fletcher Wolfe and sang the role of Pamina in its production of Mozart's Magic Flute.
Jean and Travis were enthusiastic supporters of The Atlanta Symphony and also The Atlanta Boy Choir. Their son, Travis, sang with the Atlanta Boy Choir for several years.
