Jerri Barnes Moore

Jerri Barnes Moore   Jerri Barnes Moore was an infectiously positive, widely loved resident of Buckhead Atlanta.  She was born June 17, 1940 in Birmingham Alabama.  Jerri worked in many fields in Atlanta but began her career in the movie theater business in the 1970s.  By the 1980s, she became Vice-President of Human Resources at J. Walter Thompson advertising in Atlanta.  For the last twenty years, she provided administrative support for various divisions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry where her co-workers described her as the “life of the office.”  She retired in June 2013.   Jerri’s gregarious nature attracted a long list of lifetime friends, from classmates at Christ the King School to professionals throughout Atlanta.  Friends enjoyed her laughter and humor but also her blunt, speak truth to power attitude.  She was the kind of friend always to ask about one’s family and encourage you not to “sweat the small stuff.”  Many of those friends thrived off her energy, kindness, and loyalty.  Part of that energy went into a life of world travel.  Born into a large Lebanese-American family (the Moses family of Lake City, Florida), Jerri was the first of her extended family to travel back to their Lebanese home town in 1962.  She subsequently traveled throughout much of the Middle East and Europe in the decades after.  She was an avid gardener and volunteered often for the Atlanta Botanical Show. Jerri passed away at the Atlanta Hospice Center on March 18, 2014.  Jerri was the only daughter of Hap Barnes and Sally Moses.  She is survived by her son Pete W. Moore and his wife Jennie Lee Moore.  Jerri enjoyed immensely her three grandsons, Ike, Joe, and Watson, all of whom reside in Cleveland, Ohio.  Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 pm, 28 March at Christ the King Cathedral.
