Born in 1940, Jerry was the son of Carl and Lillian Cash of Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Livingston State College and Mercer University School of Pharmacy. Jerry practiced pharmacy for 35 years, acquiring multiple drugstores and co-founding Pharmacists United for the Future (PUFF). A beloved pharmacist in the West Point/Lanett area for decades, Jerry loved helping people, routinely making house calls to better serve his customers, many of whom became dear friends. Jerry never met a stranger and had the rare gift of making others smile and laugh. Jerry was also a passionate volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and, along with his wife, Mary Anne, was named Volunteer of the Year by JDRF in 2011.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Anne Cash; his son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Donna Cash; and two grandsons, Gavin and Liam Cash. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and James Nester and Michael and Ruth Bentley, and four nieces: Andrea Stevens, Kristi Nicholson, Heidi Karod, and Betsy Cunha.
Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church of West Point on Saturday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Georgia Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
