
John (Jake) Kilpatrick went home to be with the Lord December 22, 2010. Jake is survived by his wife of 51 years Edweina Jackson Kilpatrick, daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Grant Biggerstaff of Nashville, TN; son and daughter-in law John and Gaye Kilpatrick of Augusta, GA, six grandchildren, Lydia, Bradley and Anna Biggerstaff, Jamie, Jessica and Rebecca Kilpatrick; two brothers Jimmie and Bill Kilpatrick of Atlanta. He is also survived by three close family friends who have been like family during his illness. They are Ruben and Gilda Rodriguez and Allen Standish. Jake and Edweina have been blessed with many dear friends from Brookhaven Baptist Church where they are long time members. Jake was a great athlete. He played at Dadeville High School as running back for the football team. He also ran track for Auburn University. A year later, Jake joined the Navy and fought in the Korean War. He served on the USS Manchester. Jake worked for 31 years in the Printing and Photographic Department at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Jake will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookhaven Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA with the family receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Larry Burgess and Rev. Don Presley officiating. Graveside service will be at Hillview Memorial Park, Alexander City, AL, Friday, December 24 at 10 am.
