

Daniel, Joyce Fay died on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. She was 83 years old. She was born in Anderson, Alabama on May 29, 1933, second youngest of eleven children to the late James A. and Minnie Elizabeth Duncan Heathcoat. After attending West Limestone High School, she met and married Richard Garth Daniel of Athens, Alabama, and the two of them, along with their expanding family, made homes in Michigan, and Illinois before establishing lasting roots in Atlanta in 1966. She devoted herself to her family and found motherhood a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession. She was a member of Embry Hills Church of Christ. She was an active member of a gourmet club and enjoyed co-hosting dinner parties with friends. Joyce is survived by her husband of 64 years; three sons, Richard Derick and wife Nancy, Gary Lee and wife Marilyn, Ralph Lynn and wife Jeannie; a daughter Greta Daniel Berry; her sister, Frenchie Thomas; six adored grandchildren, Erika and husband Todd Evans, Alicia Daniel, Cyd Daniel, Manoa Daniel, Molly Daniel and Daniel Berry; four cherished great grandchildren, Lily Fay Evans, Ruby Evans, Simon Evans and Gabriel Evans. A visitation from 1:00 pm till 2:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2016, and a memorial service from 2:00 pm till 3:00 pm will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel in Brookhaven, with Sr. Elder Sewell Hall officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday November 12, 2016 at Roselawn Cemetery, Athens, Alabama. The family respectfully requests no flowers for the service. In lieu thereof, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice Atlanta or charities of choice.
