

Beloved wife, mother, sister, friend and educator, Julia Branham Stokes, passed away Tuesday, February 28. Julia was born May 23, 1944 in Macon, Georgia to the late Howard Manning Branham and Pearl Hackett Branham. She graduated from Wake Forest College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she developed her love of the French language, French culture and education. Julia spread her passion for French to all grade levels, kindergarten through high school, in public and private schools over many years. She was very active in her community and church home. She was co-president of the Camellia Garden Club, a member of the Somerset Garden Club and Board member for the Trinity Early Learning Center. She was a devoted member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she was an ordained Elder, a member of Pastor’s Aid Committee, the Flower Guild and Women’s Link. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years James David Stokes of Marietta, her daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Rick Sale and grandson James Sale of Atlanta; her daughter Laura Stokes of Atlanta, her brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Barbara Branham of McDonough; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Anne and Dixon Forrester of Marietta; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tina and Jimmy Wooten of Macon. She is also survived by her nephews and niece, David Chapman of Warner Robins, Stuart Chapman of Macon, Jason Chapman of Covington and Christy Sellers of Macon. Services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Friday March 2, 2012 at 10 a.m., with reception to follow the service.
