

June Marie Cason Bass, age 96, passed peacefully, Friday Jan. 3, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. She was born to Bertha Thomas Cason and Warren Milton Cason, Sr. in Plant City, FL on June 2, 1928. Raised on her family orange grove, she grew to love gardening and the land.
The youngest of five, June attended Plant City High School, where she was honored as Homecoming Queen her Senior year. She went on to attend Florida State University, majoring in Fashion Merchandising and working afterwards as a buyer.
Prior to her 1950 graduation, she met her future husband, Bill, whom she married Dec. 28, 1952. They settled in Atlanta, where Bill was with the Coca-Cola Company. Through this affiliation, June initiated her avid hobby as a collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia, an interest she enjoyed until her passing.
As mother to William Jr. (Bill) and Patti Jo, June actively supported their formative years at Warren Elementary and Henderson High School in DeKalb County, GA. She was a member of the DeKalb General Hospital Auxiliary and St. Bede’s Episcopal Church.
The couple retired to Mount Dora, FL, where they were members of St. Edward’s Episcopal Church. Following her husband’s death in 2012, she returned to Atlanta for her final years.
June is survived by her daughter, Patti Bass Pensula; her son, William Keays Bass, Jr. (Nina); her grandchildren, Charlotte Anne Gardner, Keays Bass, Kelly Mahler, Jessica Romano, and Tatum Bass; eight beautiful great-grandchildren; as well as her lifelong best friend, Evelyn Johnson.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 17, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Moore Chapel at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Rev. Bill Britt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Atlanta Botanical Garden in recognition of June’s love of flowers.
