Kathy Lynn Ecker, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy that will continue to shine through all who knew her.
Born on August 3, 1965, in Rome, Georgia, Kathy grew up in the Virginia Highlands area, where her vibrant spirit began to blossom. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School and later attended Dekalb Community College, always embracing life with curiosity and warmth.
On January 2, 1988, Kathy married the love of her life, Stephen Ecker. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, devotion, and unconditional love. Though Stephen preceded her in death, their marriage, just two weeks short of their 30th anniversary, remains a beautiful testament to enduring partnership and shared dreams.
Kathy’s proudest titles were Mom and Kiki. She poured her heart into raising her daughters, Taylor Ecker Borgerding (married to Cory Borgerding) and Brooke Hulsey (married to Luke Hulsey), and found bound-less delight in her grandchildren, Knox Borgerding and Lennox Hulsey. Her loyal dog Cooper was never far from her side, a furry confidant and constant companion.
She is survived by her father, Jerry Graves (married to Linda), and her siblings Katrina Schlesinger (married to Steve) and Justin Graves (married to Rachel). She was preceded in death by her mother, Gail Nolan, whose memory Kathy held close to her heart.
Kathy’s life was a reflection of her deep and abiding faith. She shared her testimony with warmth and conviction, offering comfort and hope to anyone who needed it. Her generosity was effortless, her compassion instinctive. She had a way of making people feel truly seen, heard, and cared for.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures - spontaneous getaways, crafting projects, shopping adventures, and cozy evenings spent watching the Hallmark Channel or Gilmore Girls. Her kitchen, filled with an ever-growing collection of gadgets, was a testament to her creativity and her love for nurturing others. Kathy’s life radiated thoughtfulness and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at 12Stone Church(2675 Old Winder Hwy, Braselton, GA 30517) on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 02:30 p.m. The family invites all who knew her to attend, share stories, and honor the beautiful life she lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Kathy’s memory by paying it forward. Please offer a heartfelt act of kindness to someone, even a stranger, just as she so often did.
