My deepest condolences to Leo’s family-Leo was one of the funniest, kindest and smartest people I got to fly with in the early years of our careers. God Bless Leonardo ❤️

I was deeply saddened to hear Leo has passed. I met Leo about 12 years ago and he was always a bit of an enigma to me.   We shared a love of cars and he loved driving my corvette. It only took me riding with him once for me to never ride with him driving again.   He terrified me with weaving in and out of lanes. Over  the years we would go long periods with no contact and then he would call and say “come outside your front door”. He’d be sitting there in some new car he’d purchased and want to take me for a drive. I always insisted on being the driver.  When he was first diagnosed with cancer he called to tell me all the details and the nitty gritty of the surgeries. He had NO inhibitions and I loved that about him.  In April he reached out and asked if we could chat. When we spoke he told me his cancer had returned and it was stage 4. The next sentence stopped me in my tracks. He said “I have a corvette in my garage I wanted to see if you want to buy”. Just like Leo to bury the lead. We talked about his cancer and treatment plans and had a very serious discussion about his future. His optimism was evident with every word he spoke. I asked if I could come see him and he immediately sent me his  address.  I was planning to come see him in the next few days but as luck would have it I had an accident and was in a cast….unable to drive. I reached out to tell him I would come by after my cast was off and asked how chemo was going. He said GREAT but he was feeling very weak.  That was our last communication. My heart is broken I never got to see him again. 

To Leo.  I will miss the randomness and spontaneity of knowing you. I will miss you showing up to my house unannounced with biscoff cookies. I will miss our deep conversations about life and I will miss our long rides in your new cars.

I worked with Leo several times over the years. He was always kind to me and cracking jokes. He was "the life of the party" as they say. He drove me to his house once and cooked me a steak dinner. After dinner he spent an hour on the phone with someone arguing . Ha

Another good person gone too soon. My sympathies to all Leo's family, loved ones, girlfriend and caregiver Kimberly.

Whenever I'd spot Leo in the airport, I would give him the biggest wave hello.  One day he joked that I always wave to him "like Forest Gump when he sees Lt. Dan!"  We laughed so much together.  I suppose my energetic wave was just a response to how excited I was to see Leo.  I always enjoyed listening to his Army-day tales, current travels, or stressors regarding his rentals.  Leo was a friend who never judged me and was easy to talk to.  Though he never met my mother, he always asked how she was doing.  It made her happy when I'd tell her "Leo asked about you today."

Years ago on a GRR layover Leo and I went out to lunch.  Sitting on the outdoor patio, he faced the street while I faced towards the restaurant.  At some point in our conversation, Leo got up, left our table, and walked out to the curb.  I didn't know what to think.  But, he had spotted a motorist having trouble parallel parking her car.  The young lady just could not maneuver her vehicle into the space.  She kept going forward and back, straightening out, then back some more. All the while, traffic was backing up in the street.  Leo offered to park the car for her.  

I honestly cannot remember whether the girl let him or not, but the fact that Leo would leave his meal and offer aid to a complete stranger he saw struggling speaks to his character.  I heard friends and family share similar stories today at his service.

I'll always miss my friend Leo.  A true one-of-a-kind....

In Loving Memory of My Cousin Leo

With a heart steeped in tenderness and solemn grace, I wish to honour the life of my dear cousin, Leo — a man I, regrettably, never had the chance to meet in person, yet whose name and noble spirit were ever present in the stories shared by my father and his cherished sister, my beloved Aunt Clelia Uribe.

Aunt Clelia, spoke of Leo with such pride and radiant warmth that it was impossible not to feel a deep connection to him. Through her voice, I glimpsed a man of quiet strength, noble intellect, and unwavering integrity — a life adorned not with noise, but with meaningful purpose. His achievements were many, and though I knew him only through the loving echoes of family, I, too, was proud — deeply proud — of all that he became.

Leo's passing leaves a space no words can fill, yet we rest in the blessed hope that he now walks in the light of God's eternal presence, where sorrow is no more, and love is perfected. I am certain that, by God's mercy and grace, I shall one day meet him in Heaven — and embrace the cousin I knew only through love.

To Aunt Clelia, cousin Carlitos, and the rest of the cherished family, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May God wrap you in comfort and peace in this time of mourning, and may Leo's memory be a guiding light in the days ahead.

October 17, 2023  along the motorcycle trip through Deerfield Beach Florida, We shared a nice lunch together with Leo and Kimberly. It was a beautiful day and so like Leo to try to connect with us whenever he was in our area. Rest in peace dear Leo❤️

I am very sad to have found out that Leo has passed away  . We used to fly together to Bogota . He was a great friend . I think of him and miss him a lot . I am still in shock and pray for him every day since I have heard the news . He is in my heart .

I am a Delta Flight attendant and my one memory of Leo was when we were in Cairo together on a layover many years ago. He organized a day trip with many crew members and was the one who negotiated all our camel rides when we arrived at the pyramids. Truly unforgettable experience. I send my condolences to his entire family and loved ones.

Leo and I flew last year to Montego Bay. We had a blast and he took me and my husband sailing. He will be missed!!!

I met Leo once and we had a layover in San Juan. We had many laughs by the pool on the layover. I was very sad to receive the e-mail from Delta that he had passed away.  Sending prayers to the family.

I didn't know Leonardo but he was part of the Delta family. I was so saddened to hear this news. Im a flight attendent of 36 years and just wanted his family to know that he will be missed. Prayers for your family.

I'm so grateful to God for giving us the opportunity to meet and be such good friends. We really laugh a lot together. Our friendship was kind, respectful and cherished. It's hard to know that we'll have to wait until meeting again as a huge family of friends. Receive a hug and I extended my friendship to all of you.

Mexico was always a good place for margaritas.

I met Leo in Atlanta when I relocated from Washington DC and did not know many people in Atlanta. Leo was nothing but kind and a great human with a heart of gold. 
We happen to be in Greece at the same time and met up for dinner. I did not know Leo as long as many of you did but my short time with him felt like a lifetime friendship my heart is so heavy we lost such a great friend so soon. RIP Leo !

With my whole heart I write to console each person that was connected to Uribe in any way. He was extraordinary person and believer in God…Even with the challenges he faced he never lost hope… his love for his family remains forever.  Rest easy my friend..

Rest in peace, Leo. Many years ago we met flying out of New York Laguardia airport. Leo was friendly and joyful. He loved meeting people and catching up with fellow flight attendants. Years went by and we bumped into one another while passing through Atlanta airport. Same happy and friendly demeanor, welcoming a conversation with an old friend. I appreciate people like Leo, a truly caring heart and a bright burst of energy. His upbeat candor would brighten anyone’s day. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. May the Lord greet him with the same welcoming Leo had given to others. God bless.
