Marcelle Herbert Purcell, 74, of Atlanta died December 19, 2010. A native of Carnesville, Georgia, Mr. Purcell was a 1958 graduate of the University of Georgia, retired from the federal government, a passionate gardener and an active member of Brookhaven United Methodist Church. Survivors include his children, Jenny Newsom, Jimmy Purcell, Michelle Purcell and Heather Purcell, grandchildren, Jay and Tyler Swinks, Allison and David Purcell, great-grandchild, Addison Diamond, brothers and sisters, Kenneth Purcell, Velinda Purcell, Wanda Labhart, Myron Purcell Roger Purcell. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 23rd at 11:30 am at Brookhaven United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elaine Clark Center, 5130 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Chamblee, Georgia, 30341 or Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Dr. Atlanta, Georgia, 30319. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 9 to 11 at Brookhaven United Methodist Church.
