Mark George Schemanske, 55, of Mableton, GA, passed away on July 12, 2015. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Mark moved to Georgia in the mid-1980s where he earned his doctorate in English Literature from the University of Georgia. After spending more than a decade teaching composition, research methods and business communications courses at colleges and universities in Alaska, Idaho and Georgia, Mark began a new career in the 1990s as a professional copywriter and marketing strategist - a profession he was still pursuing at the time of his passing. In more recent years, Mark became an avid and beloved fan of Atlanta’s horror scene, attending conventions and other events where he was always the life of the undead party. Despite being a self-described “sentimental malcontent,” Mark will be remembered for his humor, welcoming heart, and generosity; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mark is survived by his sisters, Joyce Schemanske (Ron Regan), Janet Schubring (Mick), his nephews Tim and Kevin Schubring and great-niece, Kailyn Schubring. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. Patterson & Son- Oglethorpe Hill, Brookhaven, GA. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
