Mary Cynthia (“Cindy”) Flanary Rogers, 78, of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 10, 2025. She was born in Oak Ridge, TN to James and Christine Flanary and grew up in the West Hills neighborhood of Knoxville. Cindy graduated from The Webb School of Knoxville and attended the University of Tennessee. She has worked as a dental hygienist and clerical secretary, as well as being a successful owner and dealer of River Oak Antiques.
Cindy and her husband, Ronald W. Rogers (“Ronny”), a native Atlantan and attorney, first met in 1976 at the First United Methodist Church of Atlanta where Cindy was employed as the church secretary. They were later married in a simple ceremony on December 3, 1995 and made their home of 30 years in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA. The Rogers were active members of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and the Piedmont Driving Club.
Cindy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (“Cici”). She had a passion for gardening, interior decorating/renovations, antiques, hosting gatherings, book clubs, and frequent travel. Cindy loved animals and from an early age she was never without a family pet. She spent many relaxing days with family at the 1830s Rogers Family Farm in Johns Creek, GA. Her selfless generosity, compassion, love, and unique ability to beautify everything around her will be dearly missed.
Cindy is survived by her husband Ronald, her two sons, Dr. Joshua B. DiCarlo and wife, Molly, of Cherry Hills Village, Colorado and Dr. James Bradley DiCarlo of Atlanta, GA, her grandchildren, Suzanna and John DiCarlo of Colorado, and Isabella and Zachary DiCarlo of Virginia, as well as her brothers, Dr. Russell Flanary and wife, Lisa, and Terrell Flanary of Knoxville.
The Rogers family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, the staff at The Terraces of Peachtree Hills, and to the community of colleagues, neighbors and friends for their outpouring of love and support.
Family will meet at the Rogers-Bell cemetery in Johns Creek, GA at 10:30 a.m. on July 24, 2025 for a graveside service with Dr Laurence McCullough officiating. The family invites you to join them for a reception at 1:30 p.m. at the Capital City Club in Brookhaven.
