

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warner (Joe) Shelton, whom she met while working in San Diego, California, at General Dynamics, where the Atlas ICBM was developed—the rocket that helped send the first astronauts into space. Marilyn loved her career and the excitement of that era. She loved San Diego and especially loved to dance.
After marrying Joe, the couple moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where Marilyn worked at the H. W. Gossard Company as an Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper. There she met Christine Jones, with whom she formed a cherished friendship that lasted more than fifty years. Together, they traveled across the country and fulfilled a lifelong dream.
Marilyn had many wonderful friends and treasured each one of them deeply.
She is survived by her nieces, Jackie Milkovisch of Houston, Texas and Lisa Flores of Conroe, Texas and husband Daniel; her nephew, Thomas Childers of Austin, Texas, and his wife Barbara; great-nephews, Randy Milkovisch, his wife Jill and Eric Flores of Houston, Texas; great-niece, Shelby Flores of Denver, Colorado; and great-great-nieces, Ava, Macy, and Mary Milkovisch of Houston, Texas.
Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, independence, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
