Michael Leschaloupe

11 enero, 1939 – 17 noviembre, 2025
Obituario de Michael Leschaloupe
EN EL CUIDADO DE

H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel

Michael Charles Leschaloupé, age 86, of Fairways, Maraval, Port of Spain, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A., in the loving arms of his wife and children.

Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, on January 11, 1939, Michael was the eldest of four children of the late Joseph Edward Leschaloupé and Constance Maria de La Mothe. A proud Fatima College alumnus, he was well known for his sharp intellect, love of sport, and spirited classroom debates. As a boy and throughout his life, he was a voracious reader, consuming books, newspapers, and magazines weekly, believing wholeheartedly that “a good reader produces a good writer.” His curiosity, discipline, keen observations, and quick wit became lifelong trademarks.

Michael began his professional journey at Barclays Bank (later Republic Bank), where he was recommended for employment by a priest at Fatima College. Over the decades, he worked diligently and rose through the ranks, holding various positions throughout Trinidad and Barbados. He later contributed to the development of the merchant banking arm of Republic Bank and played a role in establishing the Trinidad & Tobago Stock Exchange. His commitment to national economic development continued when he was hired to establish a free zone in Trinidad and Tobago. As the founding CEO and General Manager of the Trinidad and Tobago Free Zone Company, he worked tirelessly alongside government leaders to modernize policy, amend regulations, and create incentives to encourage foreign investment and business expansion.

On September 10, 1967, he married the love of his life, Mary Cleonia Leschaloupé (née Lee Tin), at St. Patrick’s Church, Port of Spain. Together, they built a home grounded in laughter, curiosity, and a belief that with discipline and determination, anything could be achieved. Michael considered his most significant achievement the legacy of his three daughters, whom he raised with wisdom, humor, and boundless encouragement.

Michael will be remembered as a principled, and determined gentleman. He was disciplined in every aspect of life, motivated by excellence, and guided by integrity. He possessed a remarkable green thumb and a sharp palate. He was a master of balancing flavours in his signature sauces and family recipes, many of which will continue to be cherished by generations. He loved a lively debate, respected a well-written sentence, and carried a deep reverence for great literature and great writers. Most of all, he delighted in watching his grandchildren play sports, especially football. He was their loudest cheerleader, always encouraging their many talents, interests, and dreams on and off the pitch.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Leschaloupé (née Lee Tin).

Devoted father of Michele Leschaloupé, Christy Leschaloupé, and Charisse Leschaloupé, and father-in-law to Todd Drummond, David Fedewa, and Atul Khosla. Loving grandfather of Regan, Charlotte, Sloane, Arya, Matthew, Ella, Emily, and Shae. Brother of Judith Frost (née Leschaloupé) and Lawrence Leschaloupé. Predeceased by his brother, Edward Gerard Leschaloupé.

A Funeral Mass for the late Michael Charles Leschaloupé will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, Georgia.

The service will be livestreamed for those family members and friends unable to make it to the mass in person.

the most dominating virtues of human, are created, strengthened, and maintained.”
