Dear Wesley, Carol, Cathy & Andre, I don't know where to begin. We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Michael. We only learned this sad news this morning.  My girls Heidi, Shannon & Leila were reminiscing about their childhood and Jacksonville First Church and the songs they learned and the Pathfinders that left impressions on them.  Heidi started looking for Michael online because she wanted to tell him how much of a positive impression he made in her life. Only to find that Michael past way.  We want you to know that Michael will always remain in our hearts and in our memories. One of our favorite songs that Micheal taught us was the Crayon Box song.  The girls have taught this song to their children, I taught it to my sisters who taught it to their children and now their grandchildren. I remember Michael telling the children's story and he dressed as Moses with the 10 Commandments made out of Styrofoam and when he threw it down because the children of Israel sinned against God they broke apart. He was so talented.  My kids still tell these stories about how he made the children's story so much fun.  At one of our Pathfinder camping trips Michael  and I did a skit about a couple driving to church (our car was a large cardboard box and Michael had a huge steering wheel) in the skit Michael portrayed an agree driver and was speeding, not acting like a christian at all. We were pulled over by a police officer (played by one of Cynthia Ellis sons) and what made the skit so funny was he quickly handed the steering wheel to me (which was not a part of the skit.) . All the Pathfinders loved Michael and one of his many legacy is the love and impression he made on us all.  As long as we hold onto and share the memories of his life, Michael will always live on in our hearts. I know my grandchildren will now pass on the songs he taught us and the stories passed down to them. Michael was like the ray of sunshine after a dark storm, he left you feeling warm and happy.

I am writing this to you as I just watched the beautiful slide show which is such a beautiful tribute to Michael's life.  We are so sorry for the loss of this wonderful and beautiful son and brother.  We remember so many good and fun times being with you all and loving every minute of it.  I think one of the funniest memories I have of Michael was when he performed as the "Church Lady", what a hoot!!  His beautiful smile and positive attitude could turn a tough day into a good one.  You raised a son to be proud of and Cathy a brother that always looked out for you.                                                            

Andre, we are so sorry for the loss of your best friend and life partner.

Andre, when I arrived home this afternoon, Alvin had just read the obituary and informed me of Michael's passing. Our hearts go out to you and Michael's family. Your years together were a testimony to the love you had for each other. May those memories bring you comfort.

Andre, I am very sorry for your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Michael was a great man, and I have enjoyed the time I've spent working with him. He left this world too soon. May God give him eternal rest.

I was honored to be Michaels teacher in the 4th grade when he attended JJA. He was a bright creative and funny boy and I knew he would make his mark on he world. I was shocked and sadddened to learn of his passing and my heart goes out to his parents and to Andre. May God comfort and sustain you through this very difficult time. R.I.P dear Michael

I grew up with Michael in Jacksonville, Florida.  We were the best of friends in elementary school, and I am fortunate that we were able to remain in touch after all these years.  I loved him like a brother, and still do.  I am shocked by his sudden passing, and my heart has a painful void that cannot be filled.  My condolences to Michael's family.  Andre`, I am so very sorry for your loss, but know that you filled Mike with joy, love, and happiness in your years together.  May you soon find comfort and peace.  I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
