
Mildred Lonnie McEwen Cole passed away Friday, October 15, 2010. Mildred was born February 16, 1918 to Lonnie and Clara Bell McEwen. She was a fourth generation Atlantan, raised in Grant Park; she attended St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mildred graduated in 1936 from Girls High School and went on to graduate from Comptometer School of Atlanta before beginning her career in accounting. She began with Westinghouse and transferred to AT&T where she retired after forty-five years. Mildred was the longest standing member of Druid Hills Golf Club where she enjoyed her love of playing golf, dancing, and socializing with friends. She was an involved member with the Telephone Pioneers of America where she enjoyed entertaining other members at functions with her singing and theatrical talents. She was a loving mother and a true southern lady who never believed in telling her age.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Pete R. Cole, golf professional; sister, Emma Lee Romano Deese; and brother, Hugh McEwen. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Rick) Kaigler; grandchildren: Cole and Jonathan Fricke, and Courtney Kingston; niece, Bunny Romano Hall; and great niece, Melissa Jolly.
The funeral services will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill on Sunday, the seventeenth of October at three o’clock in the afternoon, with Dr. Don Harp officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Cole and Jonathan Fricke, Rick Kaigler, Richard Fricke and Stan Hall.
