Beloved mother, sister, aunt, and teacher, Perla Palicte Laurel, 79, of Chamblee, Georgia, passed away on October 30, 2025. Perla was a beacon of light and love to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a champion of not only her former students but also her family and friends. She is remembered as someone with unlimited compassion, enduring hope, and unwavering support for those who were blessed enough to be a part of her world.
Perla was born on November 16, 1945, in Misamis Oriental, Philippines. She lived in Merrillville, Indiana, and worked at Banneker Elementary School in Gary from 1988 until her retirement in 2014. She was co-owner of Atlas Home Health Care and was also a licensed financial professional. In her later years, she resided in Chamblee, Georgia, with her family. She is survived by her devoted children, Mark and Anne Marie; her favorite grandson, Leo; and her husband, Wilfredo.
Friends and family are warmly invited to gather in celebration of her life on Tuesday, November 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, located at 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319.
A Memorial Service will be held the following day, Wednesday, November 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the same location.
