

Dr. Peter Allen Jensen, Jr. passed away May 17, 2015 at the age of 84. He was surrounded by family and friends, who shared many wonderful memories of love and laughter and ushered him into heaven. He was born, February 5, 1931 in Charlotte, NC to Peter Allen Sr. and Gladys Buchman Jensen. Dr. Jensen moved to Atlanta as a child and attended and graduated from Boys High School. He went on to attend North Georgia College, Mercer and completed his DDS degree at Emory University in 1956. He joined the US Navy and served as Lt. Commander on the USS Ticonderoga from 1956-1958. Following his time at sea, he began his private dental practice in the Atlanta area where his passion to serve his patients was beyond measure. He was a member of American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and a charter member of Georgia Academy of Dental Practice where he served on the executive board for several terms. He was an active member of Hinman Dental Society where he served in a variety of capacities including; President, General Chairman and Program Chairman of the annual Hinman Dental Meeting that attracted dental professionals from around the world. He was also a member of the Atlanta Dental Study Group for 30 years. Dr. Jensen (Pete) was an active member with Shallowford Presbyterian Church, Oak Grove Methodist Church and Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church. Pete Jensen lived a full life. He was an avid golfer, holding memberships at the Atlanta Athletic Club for over 50 years. He loved hunting and fishing with his friends. He was loving, generous and encouraging to the people whose lives he touched. His heart was resilient throughout his final days. He was valiant in the fight to savor every moment of life. He maintained a daily attitude of gratitude, with the phrase “we are so blessed.” He had a special way of touching people’s hearts. His greatest treasures were his family and friends. Dr. Jensen is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Betty Blevins Jensen; son, Alan Jensen and daughter-in-law, Kim of Franklin, TN; daughter Amy J. Stadler and son-in-law Jeff Stadler of Cumming, GA; grandchildren; Callie J. Krider (Jacob), Cody Jensen, Adam Jensen, Andrew Stadler, Nicolas Stadler, Hannah Stadler and Joshua Stadler; his sister, Lettie J. Brown and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19th from 6:00-8:00 pm at HM Patterson Funeral-Oglethorpe in Atlanta, GA. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, 2850 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church or Halcyon Hospice.
