Quincy Alexander Hodge passed away peacefully on July 29, 2022 after a short illness.
She was born in Providence N.C. to Dr. Henry Quincy Alexander and Ethel Brinkley Alexander on Oct. 13, 1924. She was raised in Pineville, N.C. and was valedictorian of both her high school and Mitchell Women's College classes. She graduated from Duke University School of Nursing and worked at Emory Hospital for 22 years; first in thoracic surgery and later in the psychiatry unit. She finished her dedicated career at Northside Hospital and the office of Dr. Brantley and Dr. Mason, two long-time colleagues. She married Idon Marion Hodge Jr. (Jim) in 1949 and had two children; Nancy Rust Hodge and James Alexander Hodge.
She was an avid gardener and bird watcher and loved to read. She was a long-time fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Quincy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, daughter Nancy, and sisters Ruth Nicholson, Margaret McArver, and twin Nancy Winn. She is survived by sister Alice Furr, son James and his wife Wanda Wade Hodge, and grandson Alex Hodge.
A graveside service will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery (Va.) , where she will lay next to her beloved husband. Arrangements are H.M. Patterson & Sons, Oglethorpe Hill. Donations in her name to Ogelthorpe Presbyterian Church are greatly appreciated.
