Rena Mathisen passed away on January 5, 2014. A native of Atlanta, Rena was born on November 2, 1939. She graduated from Westminster School and attended Sophie Newcomb College. While raising her two children, she started her own modeling agency. She later discovered her true passion, which was travel. Her career as a travel agent took her to all parts of the world, but she was never happier than when she was on a beach somewhere or on the water sailing with Rick. Her love of family included her dogs -- a succession of shih tzus who spent many happy hours on her lap. She is survived by her husband Richard Mathisen, children John Craig (Sharon) and Rena Willard (Stacy), sister Elizabeth Nuzzaco (Joe), 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 9th at Mountain Park First Baptist Church, Stone Mountain, GA. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Southern Hope Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at hmpattersonspringhill.com.
