Allison, Robert Bolling (1943-2013)- Robert Allison passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the age of 69 in Atlanta. Adored father, grandfather, friend, businessman and mentor, he left the world unexpectedly but surrounded by his loving family. Robert “Bob” was born May 28, 1943 in Atlanta to Robert Warren Allison and Luise Sims Allison. A graduate of Northside High School, he then attended Presbyterian College in South Carolina. As a young man, he served in the Army and while stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany he forged friendships that would last a lifetime. In 1969, he married Julie Caldwell Wells and they were blessed with two adoring girls. From summers in Sea Island to exploring Africa on safari, he enjoyed traveling with his friends and family. Always surrounded by stacks of good literature, Bob could expound on topics from Atlanta architecture to British history with aplomb. Started by his father in the same year that he was born, Robert grew Allison Smith Company into one of the Southeast’s premier electrical engineering firms with a national and international presence. Bob was a beloved business mentor to many and an active member of the downtown Rotary Club of Atlanta. Bob served proudly for several years on the founding Board of Directors of the much anticipated new Piedmont Fayette Hospital in 1997. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Presbyterian College. He was a member of the Capital City Club. Bob is survived by his two daughters and son-in-laws, Caroline Caldwell Allison and husband Nick Dryden of Nashville, Tennessee and Elizabeth “Libba” Allison Osborne and husband Chris of Charleston, South Carolina; former wife and lifelong friend Julie Wells Allison; grandchildren Emmett Dryden, Granger Osborne and Caldwell Osborne.
