

Roger Curtis Watts, 88, of Atlanta died July 18, 2011 at Canterbury Court. He was born May 28, 1923 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, one of seven children of the late Herman and Erye Watts. Mr. Watts joined the Army during WWII and served for three years, then graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Commerce and went to work for Seagrams in 1948. He met Polly Mix in 1949 and the two were married on April 22, 1950. In 1952 he transferred to Carling Brewery, and he work with the company for 24 years in Cleveland and Atlanta. In 1976 he joined Coca-Cola as operations manager in Baltimore before relocating to Needham, MA, to lead the development of the largest bottling and canning plant at the time in the U.S. In 1987 Mr. Watts retired and returned to Atlanta, where he enjoyed golf, volunteering, traveling and Coca-Cola alumni events. Survivors include his wife, Mary B. (Polly) Watts, son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Adrienne Watts (NC), daughter Sandra Watts (CA) and daughters and son-in-laws Linda and Rick Bostwick (TX), Barbara and John Pries (MA), Lisa Watts and Robert Malekoff (NC), 11 grandchildren, and a brother, Cecil Watts (FL). He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 12 at 11 o’clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel with a reception to follow after the service.
