

Sam W. Knox age 96 passed away at his home in Atlanta, Ga. on May 8th, 2013 after a brief illness. Survived by son, Samuel Knox; daughter and son-in-law Cindy Richard Kaye; granddaughter, Melissa Peppas and husband Chris Peppas, along with loyal friend, Donald Reed, who was like a son. The family would like to thank Roselani Degrenia for being a long time friend to Sam. He was preceded in death by loving wife Harriet Turner Knox in 1999 and son John W. Knox in 2009. Mr. Knox was a veteran of World War II where he was a Sergeant and Gun Instructor. He spent the majority of his life in the automobile industry, starting out at the Ford Motor Company assembly line in Atlanta, working his way up to a Foreman in Atlanta and Detroit, Michigan. He was very proud of his time as Foreman working on the B-24 Liberator during the early part of the war at the Willow Run Bomber Plant near Detroit. After the war Sam's drive kicked in and he started his own automobile business in which he continued for the rest of his life. He was a generous mentor and loyal friend to many. A grave side service will be held May 14th at 1PM in Duluth, GA at the Duluth City Cemetery on Main Street in "Old Duluth". Following the service, please join family and friends for refreshments and story telling at 45 on Main Cafe in Duluth.
