Scott M. Townsend

Scott was born in Sacramento, CA to Leland M. Townsend & Thelma L. Byer on May 3, 1946. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stewart Townsend, daughter, Heather L. Townsend , brother, Jim L. Townsend, sister-in-law, Judy Townsend, brother-in-law Dr. Heath (Mac) M Stewart, Jr. and sister-in-law, Katherine (Kit) McDonald Stewart. He was Uncle to Heath M Stewart III (Jessa Westmoreland Stewart), MaryMac Stewart Cuellar (Jaime Cuellar) & Cam Stewart, and seven great nieces & nephews.

He went to Southwest DeKalb High School in Atlanta, GA. He received a baseball scholarship to University of South Carolina where he lettered in baseball (3rd baseman) & football (punter). While at USC, Scott & Shirley met & got married in 1968. After graduating from USC, he served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1972 as a commissioned 1st Lieutenant.

Scott began his long career in Sales & Marketing in Columbus, GA. He made lifelong friends while working for IBM & Lexmark. He moved around the Southeast for his career but spent his last 25 years in Atlanta, GA.
