
Born and raised in Atlanta, the son of the late Robert and Lillian Lowe, he was a lifelong resident of Atlanta. Tom attended Tech high school where he graduated in 1942. He then attended Georgia Tech before he was called to duty from the U.S. Air Force Reserves to serve in WW II in 1943. He met his late wife, Clotilde, in Virginia Highlands, and they were married in 1943. They were married for 58 years before she passed away.
After serving with the 8th Air Force Radio Line Group at Base Air Depot 2 Warton, England, he was a partner in Contractors Equipment Company, later known as Burch-Lowe Incorporated. He was a long time member of Brookhaven Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and chairman of the board of deacons for many years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge no. 714 for over 50 years.
He leaves his son, Bo Lowe; his daughter, Terry Angelich and her husband Rev. Mr. George Angelich; his daughter, Tricia Gatewood; five grandchildren: Dr. David Angelich, Dr. Regina Carlson, Kristen Youmans, Leslie Derby, and, Katherine Gatewood; a great granddaughter, Annabel Clotilde Derby; and beloved family and many dear friends.
Visitation will be at Brookhaven Baptist Church on September 23, 2011 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm with burial service at Arlington Cemetery.
He will be remembered as a kind Christian gentleman with a generous heart.
