

Thomas Devens Walsh was born in Auburn, New York, to William Henry Walsh and Catherine O’Brien Walsh. He attended Holy Family Catholic School, Auburn, New York. He was married to Janet Louise Walsh on March 6, 1976, in Mobile, Alabama, at All Saints Episcopal Church. He graduated with a Juris Doctor Law Degree from the University of Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland. During his professional career, he managed various Radio and Television Stations in Mobile, Alabama; Pensacola, Florida; Jackson, Mississippi and Atlanta, Georgia. He worked for Columbia Pictures in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Nevada; Westinghouse Finance Department in New York City, New York and Atlanta, Georgia. He was President of Walsh Venture Resources, Ltd., Atlanta, Georgia, a commercial and Industrial Real Estate Mergers and Acquisitions Corporation. He was a veteran and served in the United States Marine Corps stationed at the U.S. Marine Corps, “The Commandant’s Own”, The United Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C. He was involved in: The “Yankee Rebels” Drum and Bugle Corps (1950-1954); Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps (1954-1957); Volunteer Fireman, Verona, New Jersey (1961-1963); Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Alumni Corps, 1995-2000; Veterans Affairs Advisory Board of Dekalb County, Georgia; Member of the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce, Brookhaven, Georgia; American Legion Post #1, Atlanta, GA (Legionnaire of the Year) and American Legion Post #199, Hawthorne, New Jersey – 35+ Continuous Years; United States Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Greater Atlanta; La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (The Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses) 24+ continuous years. Conducteur for 83rd Nationale Convention in 2002 held in Columbus, Georgia; D’Youville Condominiums, Inc., Brookhaven, Georgia, HOA Past President (2 terms); one of the founders of the Peachtree Road Race; Official announcer for the Atlanta Paralympics and Track and Field Official for the Atlanta Olympics (1996); Master of Ceremonies for General Ray Davis’ 85th Birthday and dear friend; Co-Founder and Director Emeritus of CorpsVets Senior Drum and Bugle Corps of Atlanta, Georgia; Stadium Announcer for Bands of America, Inc.; Member and Officer of Hibernian Benevolent Society of Atlanta, Georgia; Member of Grand Rounds, St. Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, GA (2005-2006); Member of Numerous Civic Organizations and received numerous awards for his participation.
Tom is preceded in death by Father, William Henry Walsh; Mother, Catherine O’Brien; and sister Jean Marie Deering Walsh.
Tom is survived by Janet Louise Walsh, wife; J Rivers Walsh, son and wife Mercedes Niess; William Richard Walsh, son and wife Patti Walsh; Faith Inez Walsh Duncan, daughter and husband Mark Duncan; David O’Brien Walsh, son; and grandchildren David Christopher Walsh, Logan Danielle Walsh, Carlyle Marie Walsh, and Michelle Grace Walsh.
Memorial Services will be held 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at H. M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Cremains will be interred at a future date at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia.
The family of Thomas Devens Walsh wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Ambulance Staff and Firemen that responded to the emergency on the 21st and all of the Emergency Room staff at Northside Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. All were very professional and very compassionate.
