Vandy S. Gates, 69, of Conyers, a longtime teacher in the Dekalb County School System and State Director for SkillsUSA, died February 5, 2011. Preceded in death by his son, Brad, survivors include his wife, Barbara Rary Gates, daughters and son-in-laws, Tami and Alonzo Patton, Stacy and Cliff Robinson, Brandi and Larry Brumback, grandchildren, Whitney, Christopher, Adam, Brianna, Sydney, Emma, Will and Lily, sister, Loquita Buchert. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9th at 2 o’clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30319.
