Vicki Lee McLaughlin, 61, passed away peacefully in her home in Chesapeake, VA, on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Born in Atlanta, GA, she graduated from Sequoyah High School, Doraville, GA, in 1967. She attended the Fashion Institute of America, a division of Massey Junior College, and had a modeling career for a time. After working many years in the retail sales industry, she retired from J. C. Penney, Northlake Mall, in the fall of 2008, leaving behind many friends and valued customers. The following summer, she moved with her father to Virginia to be near her sister, Tracie. Vicki appreciated the simple things in life, especially as her health started to decline. She loved the ocean equally as much as she loved the snow and, fortunately, was able to enjoy both while living in Virginia, and on trips to the beach in Nags Head, NC, with her family. She was kind-hearted, caring and witty, always loved to laugh, and dearly loved her family and friends and especially her treasured companion, Kenton, her kitty cat. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sister, Tracie Chesworth and husband, Doug, nephew, Brian Chesworth, step-nephew, Joe Chesworth and wife, Jackie, their daughters, Leigh & Shay, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and her dearest friend of 48 years, Carol Ansley. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jim and Velma McLaughlin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12th at 1 o’clock at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, American Cancer Society or charity of your choice. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30319.
