

A graduate of Edison High School in Tulsa, Emory University and Georgia State University, Vickie was employed at Emory Healthcare as a medical technologist in blood banking and tissue handling.
Vickie was an avid gardener, a great storyteller and a great listener who gave great advice.
Vickie is survived by a sister, Deborah Hammond (David Emanuel) of Ridgewood, NJ, and two brothers; James D. Hammond (Dianne Murphy) of Kemblesville, PA and Timothy E. Hammond (Kathleen) of Carmel, IN as well as three nieces and two nephews, a grand nephew and many friends, including longtime friend and former college roommate, Jacqueline Marie Jack.
Vickie will be sorely missed by all those who loved her. Her gentle spirit and generous nature were gifts to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held at the chapel of the H M Patterson Funeral Home-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree NE, Atlanta, GA, on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the Atlanta Humane Society (atlantahumane.org) or the John C Campbell Folk School (folkschool.org).
