Virginia Blue Quillian, age 104 of Brookhaven GA, died peacefully of natural causes while at home on October 12, 2023. She was born February 07, 1919 in the small town of Pineview GA, the daughter of Daniel and Leila Blue. Virginia grew up in Pineview during the Great Depression. Later, her brothers paid for her to attend Berry College in Rome GA, from which she graduated. Teaching at an elementary school in Columbus GA, she met her future husband, Bascom Osborne Quillian Jr., who was also a teacher there. They married December 17, 1939. They moved to Atlanta after the second World War to seek the best care for their newly born daughter who was disabled by cerebral palsy. Virginia selflessly cared for her for 55 years.
Virginia was an active member and volunteer at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church. She was a kind, generous and charming woman who was adored by all who knew her. Well into her 90's, she delightfully played the piano at church, neighboring nursing homes and at the frequent request of family. She was a trusted listener who supported friends and family in times of need. Her home was safe harbor. She will be deeply missed.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom Osborne Quillian Jr.; daughter, Virginia Sue Quillian and five siblings.
She is survived by her son, Jesse (Linda) Quillian of Brookhaven GA; grandchildren, Kimberly Quillian of Arlington VA, Adam (Taylor) Quillian of Dawsonville GA and many nieces and nephews.
