

William Lisman Baker, Jr., 91, of Atlanta died September 30, 2011. Mr. Baker was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida; he graduated from Georgia Tech in 1943 where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and was also a member of the Georgia Tech Glee Club; he has remained an avid Tech fan. He went into the Army and married Christine Mullis of Atlanta on April 29, 1943. He was sent to Europe as a 2LT during World War II and was stationed mainly in Italy. He knew and served Jesus Christ all of his life. Mr. Baker was a former deacon at North Avenue Presbyterian Church where he also taught Sunday School. He is presently a member of Christ Church Presbyterian. Mr. Baker was a consulting mechanical engineer for 40 years having his own firm for 25 years; he then worked for and retired from the Georgia Board of Regents in 1993. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who truly enjoyed family time together. He is survived by his wife, Christine Mullis Baker; son, William Lisman Baker III (Mary); daughter, Martha Baker Kelley (Holcombe); granddaughter, Christy Cella (Paul); 3 great grandchildren, Katie, Mary Chris and Elizabeth; brother; Charles Baker. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 4 at 11 o’clock at Patterson’s Spring Hill with Rev. Pete Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
