

William Nay Marchman, 83, of Canton, Georgia, died on Sunday, January 26th, 2014. Mr. Marchman was the son of Charles Vernon Marchman and Caroline Graf Marchman. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Vernon M. Marchman and Charles E. Marchman, and sisters Marie E. Marchman and Barbara M. Hamrick. Mr. Marchman attended Chamblee High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a typographer - flying over enemy territory and photographing enemy strategic positions for the U.S. Army. After his return from the army, William worked with his brother's company, Marchman & Sons, second generation homebuilders in Atlanta. He was a devoted husband and father - being known as a "true perfectionist" at any task that he undertook. He had a keen interest in automobiles, being a racing spectator and competitor, along with supporting his daughter's equestrian interests. He will be truly missed by all. Mr. Marchman is survived by his wife, Esther Renfroe Marchman, daughters Julianne Marchman, Mary Ellen Hanavich, Susan Elizabeth Marchman, grandson William Gregory Guldenschuh, sister Dorothy Marchman Harris, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 31st at 2:00 pm at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends, Friday, January 31st at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30319.
