

William Wayne Woody 12/1/41 to 1/9/15 William Wayne Woody, resident of Atlanta Georgia and Hayesville North Carolina, died surrounded by family on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta Georgia. He was born in Maury County, Tennessee, on December 1, 1941, to Jefferson and Elizabeth Woody of Santa Fe, Tennessee. Mr. Woody graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1959, Middle Tennessee State University in 1964, and received his Masters in Business Administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a retired Certified Public Accountant in Georgia and North Carolina. He served as Managing Partner of KPMG LLP and its predecessor firms, Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. and Peat Marwick Main. Mr. Woody was also a member of the board of directors of KPMG from 1990 through 1994. Prior to joining KPMG, Mr. Woody was the Principal Budget Analyst for the State of Georgia Office of Planning and Budget, where he reviewed, analyzed and presented the Governor’s budget proposals to the state legislature. Mr. Woody is a former Chairman of the Audit Committee for the City of Atlanta. From 2003 through 2014 he served as a director of American HomePatient, Inc., and was a trustee of the Wells Family of Real Estate Funds, and was also on the Board of Directors of Red Bag Solutions. He was also a director and the former Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mr. Woody is a former member of the board of directors for the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the American Heart Association. He formerly served as a trustee and chairman of the Finance Committee for the Georgia State University Foundation. Mr. Woody previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Center for the Visually Impaired. He was a member of the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta Georgia, where he formerly served as an usher. He was also a longtime member of the Atlanta Athletic Club. A man of many interests, he enjoyed world travel, reading, boating, and socializing with family and friends. He devoted his life to caring for others. Wayne leaves his loving wife, Ann Woodlie Rose of Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Elizabeth Woody, and his first wife, Rebecca Terry Woody. He is survived by his brother, Fred Newton Woody of Atlanta, Georgia and his sister Martha Jean Woody of Columbia, Tennessee. He is also survived by his beloved nephews, William Jefferson Woody (Denise) of Atlanta, Georgia and Jason Warner Woody of Nashville, Tennessee. He is also survived by his adorable and loving greatnieces Emily Frances Woody and Elizabeth Claire Woody of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as many loved ones in the Terry and Rose families, as well as many cousins and extended families. Private family services will be held Tuesday, January 13th in Columbia, Tennessee. A Memorial Service will be held in Atlanta Georgia on Sunday, January 18th, at H. M Patterson & Sons Oglethorpe Funeral Home, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, with the Rev. Don Harp officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Services at 4:00 pm and a Reception at 5:00 pm.
