Benny Baker

Benny A. Baker, 71 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Family will receive friends 5pm to 7pm Sunday February 25th at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 12pm Monday February 26th, at Morgan Funeral Chapel, with graveside services to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Attalla.

Chase Dowdy, pastor of Stowers Hill Baptist Church will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Baker, parents John and Estelle Baker, Brother Rabon Baker.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Lou) Honaker; son, Scott (Amy) Baker grandson Jacob Baker, granddaughters Lindsey and Emma Honaker, brother Bobby ( Mary Sue ) Baker , sister Jewell Patterson.

Benny was a graduate of Emma Sansom High School and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a Private E-1 in the United States Army where he served as a Military Policeman while in Vietnam from 1967-1969. After returning from Vietnam he married the love of his life Betty Sandlin. They were married for 48 years during which time they raised a family with the same devotion, love and caring that they always showed for one another. He will always be remembered as the best husband, father and Papa that any family could ever hope to have.

Family wishes to express special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Dr Sancheti, Dr Kalim and nursing staff at GRMC MICU for their care and kindness.

Family will receive flowers or memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.

Pallbearers will be: Ray Baker, Daniel Barrentine, Michael Ezzell, Lou Honaker, Jacob Baker, and Gerry Martin.
