

David was born on January 4, 1954 in Gadsden, AL. to Phillip I. (P.I.) and Elizabeth Martin. He graduated from Etowah High School. In July 1974, he was united in marriage to Patsy Smith. David retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2012, where he had worked for over thirty years, first in Washington, DC and then in the Birmingham field office.
Some of David’s hobbies included many years of Karate and tending to bonsais.
Preceding him in death were his parent, Phillip I. (P.I.) and Elizabeth Martin; his sister, Sheila Gentle; his sister-in-law, Shirley Martin; his parent-in-laws, Ralph and Pearl Smith; and his brother-in-law, Henry Gilley.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Martin; his sister, Ann (Bob) McNeal of Rainbow City; his brothers, Allen (Sharon) Martin of Georgia, and Phillip I. Martin III of Opelika, Alabama; his sister-in-law, Linda Gilley; and several great nieces and great nephews.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm at the Kiwanis Pavilion, 1500 Noccalula Road, Gadsden, Alabama.
