David Wayne Smith

David Wayne Smith 66 of Steele passed away May 21, 2022. Funeral Service will be 2p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Bro. Paul Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

David was born and raised on Chandler Mountain. He graduated from Ashville High School and enjoyed running track and playing basketball while in school. He was the State Champion for the Mile Run and set state records in 1973. David was even featured in the St. Clair County Hall of Fame. He loved deer hunting and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. David was a farmer at Smith Farm for many years. He was a great Pop-Pop and loved all of his grand-babies, and they loved him.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Mary Smith; wife, Brenda Smith; brothers and sisters.

David is survived by his daughter, Ashley Smith; son, Wade Smith; grandkids, Addison Thrasher, Brinlee Dunn, Hayden Higgins; nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Phillip Smith, Carl Smith, Todd Smith, Kenneth Seals, and Charles (Skip) Shaw.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Morgan Funeral Chapel from 6 until 8p.m.
