

Dennis worked for Goodyear on the second shift for 15 years before embarking on a fulfilling career as a cattle farmer and later working with an excavating company. He served on the Altoona City Council and was a member of the Altoona Volunteer Fire Department. He was also the proud founder of Burton’s Food, which he operated for 50 years, leaving a lasting legacy in his community.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Willie Mae Burton; son, Dennis Ray Burton Jr.; wife, Patsy Burton; sisters, Barbara House and Helen Kidder; and brother, Harold Burton.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Campbell Burton; his son, Steve Burton; his grandchildren, Jennifer Burton, Jeremy Burton, and Emily (Austin) Byrd; and his great-grandchildren, Ella Burton, Lani Burton, River Burton, Bryce Burton, and Laken Burton. Additionally, he leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Mary Burton; his sister-in-law, Ila Burton; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on May 6, 2025, at Morgan Funeral Chapel, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Altoona-Walnut Grove Cemetery. Clergy Clay Spears and Harvey Beck will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will include Jacob Graul, Jamie Grant, Perry Gibbs, Austin Byrd, Paul Keener, and Steve Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Foster, Ronnie Blanton, Jim Turnbach, Barry Maddox, Scotty Maddox, Jimmy Butts, and Dennis Coffelt.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jim Turnbach, Keena Mashburn, Sherry Campbell, Dr. Andrew, and Dr. Debora Reiland for their unwavering support and kindness.
Dennis’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
