

He was born to J. D. and Beth McCombs Goins on June 26, 1958 in High Point, North Carolina. He moved to Gadsden, Alabama in November of 1977, were he met and married Alice Faye Whitfield on January 13, 1978. In their forty-five years of marriage they built a loving life with one daughter, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four dogs he truly loved.
Doug is preceded in death by his infant brother Ronald Goins, his mother and father J.D. and Beth Goins, mother and father in law Robert and Evelyn Whitfield, niece Judy Marie Goins and his sister in law Nancy Galbreath.
Left to cherish the many memories of Doug, is his wife Alice Faye, daughter Karen (Randy) Jacobs, sister Vickie Goins, nieces Tammy Cox, Mary (Mike) Dunn, grandchildren Katie (Jon) Holt, Robert (Meagan) Crawford, Austin Johnson and Jessica (Ray) Jacobs, seven great grandchildren, and brother and sister in laws Ralph Whitfield, Johnny (Paula) Whitfield, Kathy (Jerry) Bishop, Howard (Melissa) Whitfield, Ed Whitfield and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Robert Crawford, Austin Johnson, Jon Holt, Ray Decker, great nephew Jake Shaneyfelt and nephew in law Mike Dunn.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Morgan Funeral Chapel from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
Ceremony will begin at at 3 p.m. with Johnny Whitfield will officiate. Burial to follow after the ceremony at Clayton Cemetery.
